User Group Follow-up - - Thank you, Ed Brill !

Category DC Events

Last night ICI Systems, Inc. hosted Ed Brill for the DC Notes and User Group. It was a full room (we had to bring in extra seats), and everyone came with questions that made for interesting dialog. One of Ed's characteristics, is that he simply tells it like it is--he shared a lot of statistics and first-hand experiences with us. He broke down his presentation into the central questions that were being asked: DB2-NSF, Workplace, Hannover, and some comments about the competitive landscape.

I was surprised to learn that the DB2 integration was four years in the making, longer than it has taken Workplace to reach its current state.

Hannover is starting to generate buzz. I think the accesibility to the Activity Explorer functions, and its rich client interface is going to mark a real turnaround for many who have stamped an "expired" label on Domino.

Ed also gave many off-the-cuff comments that fall in the category of What is Said Here, Stays Here. Which is another way of saying that you should have been there. This years Lotusphere session of "My Boss Loves Microsoft . . . " is going to be especially interesting.

If Ed comes to the user group in your area, clear your calendar and make that date.

FOR THOSE READING VIA RSS, THIS POSTING INCLUDES A PICTURE OF ED ACCEPTING THE 'SARA HATES ME' SHIRT.

Gravatar Image2 - Yes, and we are getting Bruce Elgort and sooner or later, Alan Lepofsky. It's nice to see a strong grassroots interest in Domino.

Gravatar Image1 - Wow! a full house - I don't think that has happened since we stopped holding meetings in the old USA Today/Lotus office 5 plus years ago. Ed definitely has the star power draw that is needed to fill a room, although the resurgence of Notes/Domino doesn't hurt either. It's great to see that the user group is still going (14 years - I think) moving it to ICI has been a very good thing indeed. I was very tempted to leave the woods and drift south to attend but decided that it wasn't worth the 1200 mile drive. Maybe next time.
