Usability

One of the fun things that I did at this year's Lotusphere was play with Sametime 7.5 in the Usability Lab. I was assigned some tasks to accomplish, and then monitored by someone taking notes on a clipboard. Every mouse movement (and my comments) were recorded by Camtasia Studio.
It turns out, you don't have to wait until January to participate in Lotus usability studies. IBM/Lotus is always looking for volunteers, and you can register at their usability site.
If you are interested in learning more about usability, and how to incorporate client responses into your own design work, then you'll want to read Ned Batchelder's recent write-up on doing usability studies on-the-cheap. And, if you don't want to purchase Camtasia (which is an excellent value), then you can try Wink, an open-source screen recorder.
