Radicati vs Ferris Research
Radicati recently announced their 2005 predictions, which created a furor over the suggestion that weblogs would diminish in influence: "no longer a credible source of news."
Of course, this is ironic on several levels (which many others have ably identified) such as the 2004 prediction for the widescale adoption of RSS, standard with all weblogs or the marketing debacle over Lotus Domino in a weblog (Vowe's Wiki has all the details).
Today, I discovered that Ferris Research is starting a weblog to disseminate the "analysis of email, messaging and collaboration technology provided by the analyst staff of Ferris Research." For those that are not familiar with David Ferris, his research firm has been covering messaging and collaboration for as long as I can remember (that takes me back to my cc:Mail days).
Well, I've added the Ferris blog to my list of sites, and I'll bet I'll be reading it throughout 2005 much more often than anything from Ferris's competition.
