Last month, BusinessWeek ran a short, online, article on "How to Run a Meeting Like Google." Everyone tries to make their own meetings as productive as possible, and likewise everyone seems to hate meetings in general as productivity sink-holes. Cabletron had its meeting rooms redisigned with tables that were of standing height, and all the chairs in the room were removed. Everyone stood throughout the meeting sessions, which seemed to keep the meetings shorter--but it didn't do much to prevent Cabletron from being vanquished from the networking industry. Google meetings don't have any outrageous techniques that require a room design, just a six-point guideline that is highly recommended.
