A Week of Changes

Category Diversions

This week I started a new job. After ten years of providing professional IT training and consulting, I have accepted a position at an international media and publishing company to assist them in their messaging systems. It has been rewarding and challenging to have built one of the most dynamic ECIS programs, providing IBM/Lotus authorized training (even to the point of being listed as the number one ECIS provider in North America).

On Tuesday night my wife and I received a medallion from the Children of God Relief Fund, for the work done in Nairobi to build a computer learning center. The best part of the award, was the incredible company we kept--each person was their own story of commitment to the Nyumbani Orphanage.

Oh, then it was my birthday. Great fun. I also noticed that this year I received a "Happy Birthday" e-mail from my Jeep dealership, and from the Ubuntu forums. Proactive customer support through e-mail is a smart move (I didn't get anything from Ford or Microsoft !).

Gravatar Image5 - Thanks, all. I have to admit that being in the IBM/Lotus community has many advantages--this is one tight group. My new job continues to take up a lot of mindspace, and I have to step back from some of my DCNUG responsibilities, but I hope to get up to speed quickly.

Gravatar Image3 - Jack - both congratulations and best wishes on the new job. Sure seems like a lot of people are making changes recently.
Hope it works out well for you, and to see you in January.

Gravatar Image2 - Congratulations on your medallion! You've worked hard for it, even though it wasn't the reason you did it. It is very interesting to follow you in that process.

Also, much success in your new career direction. I too would like to find a new challenge.... Good luck!

Oh, and of course, HAPPY BIRTHDAY... and many many more!!!

Gravatar Image1 - Jack, congratulations (x2) and happy birthday!
