Canadians Don't Vote

Category Diversions
A few weeks back I was in Toronto as a member of IBM's advisory council for education. It's been quite a while since I've been in Canada, and as I was walking between parking lots I noticed the oddest thing about Canadians. They don't have bumper stickers.

At first, I thought maybe it was some sort of corporate policy, but the vehicles in the hotel parking lot also lacked any paper tokens of loyalty. When I walked over to a shopping mall, I found the same glistening rows of unadorned bumpers. There is no testimony to Maple Leaf hockey, no reminders of religious affiliations, no pride in honor roll students, and no magnetic ribbons of military support.

It took me a few days to puzzle this difference between between the cultures, but now it all seems so obvious. Canadians don't really have any hockey teams, they don't go to church or temple, and they probably only go to college in the US. Once I narrowed everything to my own perspective, the solution was very straightforward.
