Happy Birthday Bonhoeffer

Category Diversions
100 years ago, Saturday, Dietrich Bonhoeffer was born in Germany. Even in our jaded, post-modern world, there are still heros.

Gravatar Image3 - Bonhoeffer is a really intriguing guy. I studied about him some back in 1999/2000. "The Cost of Discipleship" is a really great book. This past weekend, in my Christian History email from ChristianityToday.com, they had an article on him.

It's at: http://www.ctlibrary.com/3843

Gravatar Image2 - Thanks, Gerco, he seems to be widely admired across all denominations, which is unusual in itself. His Amazon.com Sales Rank for "The Cost of Discipleship" is at #1,025. Amazing, for someone who was executed in Nazi Germany one day before Allied occupation. I studied him in some detail, and I still find him to be a stirring resource.

Gravatar Image1 - Recently I read a short bio about him. I was impressed. He's still a major theological influence, too.
