WebSphere is #1
Category IBM/Lotus
Software Development Times has provided the latest results of a BZ Research study on the use of Java. The most interesting surprise, to me, is IBM's continuing domination of a technology it doesn't even own. WebSphere was rated #1, followed by BEA and Oracle. Under the category of IDEs, Borland's excellent JBuilder took first place, but IBM took second, third, and fifth place with Eclipse, WebSphere Studio Application Developer, and VisualAge for Java. IBM's true percentage of the Java IDE market is 75%.
The only other upset was that JBoss, an OSS choice, was ranked at #4 for Java application servers, with a surprising 27 percent adoption count.
