It looks as though Sun Microsystems is enticing data centers with a wholesale license for their Glassfish application server and MySQL database. One flat fee for every server in the organization.
No muti-core calculations. No CALS. This is definitely going to hit Oracle/BEA the hardest. Even if a company sticks to their preferred application platform, the vendors are going to have to answer to the price value that Sun just laid down.
