DB2 Express-C Overview
Category Programming
Rahul Kitchlu and Boris Biallek have authored an overview of DB2 Express-C (the free release) called "Take the Fast Train." The summarize what features are included (and which were excised) and even point to the Linux distros (http://www.ibm.com/db2/linux/validate).
All the major RDBMS vendors now have free release versions, and DB2 and Oracle are both support FOSS Linux as well (with Ubuntu and Mandriva). I expect to see the SMB market begin to edge into these offerings.
This is the graphic that shows the business value of DB2 Express-C

What isn't shown is whether or not DB2 Express-C applies to Domino 7 and its DB2 integration. Technically, only the DB2 Enterprise UDB release is supported (DB2 Express-C is free, and therefore comes without support). Doing Domino 7, DB2 Express-C on FOSS Linux would make a very compelling SMB solution.
