Comprehensive Analysis on OSS Implementations

Category Management
Whether or not you are considering Open-Source Software (OSS), everyone should  be current with the issues. As widely reported by Slashdot and other tech sources, the Federal Government Co-ordination and Advisory Agency for IT in the Federal Administration (KBSt) has updated their guidelines. Obviously, the KBSt is aware that their findings are being watched, as they have released an entire set of their publications in english:

PDF Datei Migration Guide, second revised edition (pdf, 4, 28 MB)

PDF Datei Open Source Software in the Federal Administration (KBSt-Letter 2/2000) (64 kB)

PDF Datei Linux: An Opportunity for More Software Diversity in Public Administration (39,1 kB)

PDF Datei Open Standard for Document Exchange (3,3 MB)

PDF Datei Summary: Open Standard for Document Exchange (104 kB)

PDF Datei Berlin-Bonn Information Network (205 kB)

My first read of these studies, is that they are scrupulous in their detail and honest to their mandate to ensure that this complex technology remains controllable and manageable in the future, and to combine IT resources using new organizational approaches and the most comprehensive and uniform IT standards possible.
