Great User Group Meeting in DC
Last night was spent reviewing a wide range of OpenNTF offerings.A lot of people knew of OpenNTF, but hadn't spent any time with the site, recently. Naturally, we spent a little time with BlogSphere and then looked at about eight other offerings. Some people were using OpenLog and Bugtracker (and couldn't say enough good things about them).
This month, Simeon Savov was our winner for the latest release of The View. The articles covered in-place editing over the web, using open source development (Hibernate and Spring), Domino 7 monitoring and two articles on performance loads with Domino7. If you don't know The View, you should know that it is the definitive reference publication for Domino, and you had better be aware that all of their articles have the code, for free, on their web site.
Simeon, you'll be showing off what you read in The View at the next meeting, right? :)
We also took a look at scheduling and group calendars to see how access can be blocked to the mail files, but users can still be allowed to peek at the scheduled events. This topic will be a later blog.
Thank you to the nice people at The View for the journal.

You are the man. I can't say enough good about OpenNTF, both in its model of execution and the selection of applications. I think it would be great to kick around some ideas how user groups could be more involved with OpenNTF.
And, yes, it was a real treat meeting you at Lotusphere, as well. It's a nice community to work in, isn't it? Thanks for dropping in and posting.

It was also a pleasure to meet you at Lotusphere this year.

First of all Jack (D) thank you for your presentation and the hard work you put into to preparing for it.
Jack (R),
I also think this would be a great idea and will plan to spend some time looking at your tools so I can (hopefully) add to the next discussion.
Thanks again,
Neil.

I think that is a *terrific* idea. As a matter of fact, I'm spending time with some web developers this week, and I'll introduce the DWT to them and solicit their feedback as well.
Thanks for the work that your doing.
All the best,
Jack

At your next meeting, perhaps you can review my OpenNTF project, Domino Web Tools. Right now I'm focused on xml views and outlines. I would really like to hear what people think and what features they would like to see with this.
Thanks!
Jack
